Born in Ceyhan in 1949, Mehmet Yaltır graduated from Tarsus American College in 1967 and Robert College (Boğaziçi University) Business Administration and Economics Department in 1971. Since his graduation, he has worked in the agricultural, commercial and industrial enterprises of his family in Adana. In the 1980s, it started to produce and export cloves and strawberries by giving priority to modern agriculture. Since the 2000s, it has focused on strawberry production. As of 2019, it produces approximately 12,000 tons of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries for Yalex, Bery and Redy brands and exports 40% of them to Eastern Europe and Middle East countries.
Mehmet Yaltır, who has been carrying out social studies since his student years, engaged in active politics between 1985-1999. He was the Founding Member of ADATUB (Adana Citrus Producers Association) and the Founding President of Silifke Strawberry Producers Association. Yaltır, who has been serving the Health and Education Foundation and its institutions voluntarily for many years and was the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees in the previous term, was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of SEV as of December 2018.
