Arzu Erdem, Prof. Dr. (UAA’79)

Ms. Erdem received her undergraduate (1983), master’s (1985) and PhD (1995) degrees from the Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University. Working as a Research Assistant, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor at İTÜ’s Faculty of Architecture between 1988-2009, she took on the role of the Head of the Architecture Department between 2012-2013. She served as the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Abdullah Gül University from 2015-2017 and Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design and Vice Chancellor in charge of education at Kadir Has University, where she started in 2017.
Erdem was a member of the architectural team which was awarded the National Architecture Award in 2012 with “Istanbul Water Civilizations Project” in the category of conservation. Her research focused on architectural education, design pedagogy and processes, IT, and design practices. She was a member of the Turkish Science Committee at the International Venice Architecture Biennale from 2014-2018 and currently serves on the boards of directors of Rubicon Foundation (Netherlands), an organization researching natural life and bio-diversity, and of İŞ GYO Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş.
